First off, nice job for successfully navigating to this page. That was a test to see if you're equipped enough to be the FIRST "Saddle Up…Hats Off…Hat Toss" champion, which will require contestants to have a similar amount of neurons as that of the "Page Navigation" test contest you just experienced. It's a multiple-step process, so pay close attention to these 3 easy steps:
STEP ONE: THE CALL
Listeners call KYKZ to win tickets to the 74th Annual Southwest District Livestock Show & Rodeo, which can be picked up at our station location, 425 Broad St in Downtown Lake Charles. Now, I know what you're thinking: "I won my tickets, so I'm good, right?" WRONG! These winners are also qualified for the GRAND PRIZE of $200 (insert cliché simultaneous audience "OOOOOOOHH" sound).
STEP TWO: THE WAIT
Those of you who make it to this stage, congratulations; however, only one person can call themselves the FIRST EVER "Saddle Up…Hats Off…Hat Toss" champion. This is the most difficult stage of the process because of anticipation. By this step your adrenaline is so peaked for the Rodeo that, if you didn't already have it, you've developed a severe case of restless leg syndrome because you simply could not bear the wait. Power through—you can do this. Grab a snack, sit down with a book, and relax; the Rodeo will get here eventually.
STEP THREE: THE CHALLENGE
Turn your excitement volume up because it’s finally here…GAME TIME:
- Contestants will be lined up. The first contestant in line is handed a cowboy hat, donated by Cotton’s Western Wear.
- One-by-one, contestants toss the hat toward a saddle that is placed TEN FEET in front of them and try to catch the hat on the saddle horn (for those of you who didn’t pass Horseback Riding 101, the horn is the piece of leather jutting from the end of the saddle closest to the horse’s head). The contestant who catches his hat on the saddle wins.
- In the event of a tie, the distance is widened to twelve feet for the throwing process to be repeated until there is one winner. If neither of the contestants “hooks the horn”, then the prize will be awarded to the contestant whose hat landed the closest to the target.
**Now, remember, nobody in the contest is your friend. Even if they are your friend, for the next 10 minutes, they’re you’re obstacle. Your other obstacle? Yourself. So, get centered…get focused…get the $200 prize.
