Miranda Lambert Hopes Her “Honesty” on “The Weight of These Wings” Leads to 3rd CMA Album of the Year Award

In addition to having won six consecutive CMA Female Vocalist of the Year awards from 2010 to 2015, Miranda Lambert has also copped two CMA Album of the Year awards (2010’s Revolution and 2014’s Platinum).

It’s no surprise that Miranda is again nominated in both aforementioned categories at the 2017 CMA Awards on Nov. 8—as well nominations for Music Video, Single and Song of the Year—but it’s the Album of the Year award for The Weight of These Wings that she really covets.

Miranda recently sat down with Kix Brooks of American Country Countdown to share her sentiments regarding her Album of the Year nomination.

“People ask, ‘What’s your most coveted award if you could take one home?’ and it’s always Album of the Year, because I guess I am just so super honest in my albums that I feel like it’s my diary and when the industry sees it and kind of goes, ‘Well, you’re an open book, and we like it,’ then it feels like you’re doing the right thing,” says Miranda. “You know, it’s just validation, and I don’t know the secret. I am so thankful that we’ve repeated that a few times, but I guess the only [reason] I can think of [for winning] is my honesty.”

Tune in to the 51st CMA Awards on Nov. 8 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC to see if Miranda takes home any hardware.
